Carbon Intensity Update – 11th November 2025
On the 11th of November 2025, the UK experienced varying levels of carbon intensity in electricity generation throughout the day. Monitoring these changes helps households reduce their carbon footprint by making informed decisions about when to use energy-hungry appliances. At Jaxi, we’re committed to keeping you informed so you can make smarter, greener choices every day.
Low Carbon Intensity During Early Hours
From midnight (00:00) through to midday, carbon intensity remained in a low range—from 99 gCO₂/kWh down to 89 gCO₂/kWh. This period represented an excellent opportunity for eco-conscious energy use, as the electricity supply came largely from renewable and low-emission sources.
Moderate Intensity During Morning Peak
Between 05:30 and 13:30, the carbon intensity rose into moderate levels due to increasing demand across the grid, peaking at 141 gCO₂/kWh. During such periods, fossil fuel generators may be used to meet demand, resulting in higher emissions. Minimising usage of high-energy appliances during these hours helps reduce your environmental impact and supports a cleaner grid.
Afternoon Transition and Evening Improvements
As the day progressed, intensity levels fluctuated. From 15:30 to 17:00, carbon emissions hovered around moderate levels again, with a peak at 105 gCO₂/kWh. Fortunately, emissions dropped substantially in the evening. From 17:30 onwards, low carbon intensity returned, reaching the day’s lowest level of just 42 gCO₂/kWh by 23:00.
Why Carbon Intensity Matters
Understanding carbon intensity helps us all make better choices. When energy demand is high, and renewable sources are insufficient, grid operators often rely on fossil fuels like coal or gas, which increases carbon emissions. By planning when to run appliances — such as dishwashers, washing machines, or electric vehicle chargers — during low-intensity times, you help reduce both your energy bill and environmental impact.
Plan Smarter with Jaxi
At Jaxi, we’re here to help you become more energy-aware. Our carbon intensity updates allow you to see when your electricity is cleanest so that you can align your usage with greener grid conditions. Together, small steps like this create a big impact toward a sustainable future powered by clean energy.
Stay tuned for daily updates and continue making energy-efficient choices that support a low-carbon lifestyle!
